Trustee Gibson Recall Initiative
Main Issues

Main Issues

Gibson failed her fiduciary duty to students, taxpayers, and the community

Through her record, Trustee Gibson has demonstrated a conflict of interest that places union desires and interests ahead of the needs and well-being of our district’s students.

Hurts Students' Academic Achievement

Trustee Gibson disregards students’ needs. In the face of  community protesting, Trustee Gibson remained the single Nay vote, refusing to grant students the option for the letter grades.

Irresponsible Funds Allocation

Trustee Gibson then approved using the $5.2M Chromebook purchase in our district where the majority of households self-provide computers. Those funds could have and should have been allocated instead to equip our schools to reopen the schools safely and provide social emotional programs per Learning Loss Mitigation Funding guidelines.

Conflict of Interest with the Teachers' Union

SOLE source of campaign funding appears to be from the SDFA, which represents the teachers union.

Disregards Students' Emotional Well-Being

Trustee Gibson disregards students’ needs. In the face of  community protesting, Trustee Gibson remained the single Nay vote, refusing to grant students the option for the letter grades.

Retroactive Raises During the Pandemic

In March 2020, Trustee Gibson approved a 3.5% retroactive salary raise for Superintendent Haley, classified employees, and administrators, during the pandemic. Further, she rushed to approve an early extension of Dr. Haley contract.

Absent 2/3 of the Board Meetings

Trustee Gibson has been absent from 2/3 of the last nine board meetings without any explanation
